We play a variety of covers as well as playing some Scottish traditional music and supplying a disco option for all gigs.

Person must:

- be able to pick up songs quickly
- have own gear
- have a professional attitude
- be able to commit to 2 rehearsals every week
- transport is not essential but would be useful
- some singing ability would also be advantageous but again not essential

We are a four-piece band- guitarist/vocalist, bass player, drummer & keyboard player/producer. We are very experienced players with our own practice room and have a bank of original material as well some recorded tracks (that have so far received great feedback)! Hello there, I'm looking for an established band or a band forming. Bass guitar player of mature years - I haven't gigged for quite some time but hope to get back into the music again. R&B band (50's R&B that is) crossed with Cajun/Zydeco needs a male singer.
A bunch of seasoned musicians have out together a band that uses the sounds of classic New Orleans R&B - think Fats Domino, Lee Dorsey, Allen Toussaint - and blends them with elements of Cajun & Zydeco.

Line up will be a 7 piece. We have - Piano, Guitar, Bass, Drums, Sax and Accordion.

We need someone that can sing like a blues/soul man but is also versatile enough to handle a fairly large range of material. We would also prefer it if you have good tonal range (the ability to hit an F or a G even). An ability to harmonise naturally would be good. Lastly, and I think I know the chances of this are slim, we want you to be able to play the Zydeco Rubboard or at least be willing to get one and learn.

We don't have a rehearsal schedule as yet but we will use Glasgow city centre studios as and when needed.

This aim of this band is to make good, happy, music and also to make some money while we're at it.

I ken fine that our chances of finding such a person are on the slim side but if you see yourself in this role then give me a shout.

Dexys Bootleg Runners need fiddlers!
We are the only tribute band in the world that plays Dexys music. We are a 12 piece band with three horns and three fiddles. The real deal - no synths.

As you might imagine, it's not easy to keep a stable line up.

We are about to have some vacancies in the string section and we need replacements - both permanent and temporary.

We have played headline gigs at various UK festivals and had our own gig at The Ferry in March.

Ideally we would like someone who can pick up the music quickly, either by ear or reading the dots. We rehearse evenings, usually either Monday or Tuesday in Glasgow. Age is not an issue as we have members of all ages.

This is a great gig for someone with folky fiddle chops but wants to try something a bit different.

AYRPLAY - Burns Showcase for New Bands Competition 2010.
The first round of Scotland's biggest Battle of the Bands 'Ayrplay' took place at the Eagle Tavern, with No Fxd Abode, from Glasgow, winning through to the next round. Aryplay is the country's greatest battle of the bands competition and every year has already seen bands go on to support icons of music like Status Quo and perform at amazing venues like 02 in London.

John Potts, Ayrplay Chief Judge said, "No Fxd Abode are a talented group of young lads from Glasgow who came together as a band the beginning of January 2009 and seriously impressed the Judges with their outstanding musical talent and range of original material. This is what this competition is all about and we're excited about the prospect of the next few weeks and the competition hotting up for the final."

Bass Player Wanted
Guitarist and Drummer formerly of The Ubiquitous Kings of Rhythm are looking for an experienced bass player to work on new project.

The Ubiquitous Kings of Rhythm were a four piece blues group playing traditional blues and swing tunes with a strong driving electric feel. The "Kings" played various gigs around the Edinburgh live music scene including; Whistle Binkies, The Jam House and The Voodoo rooms.

With the deportation of our Bass player on grounds that are a matter of national security (and our singer moved to Leeds), we are looking to create a new line up and a new more contemporary sound.

You must be over 18 with your own gear, be willing to rehearse regularly and be committed. We would like to be gigging as soon as possible with a view to forming a working band.

Experienced Lead Guitarist Wanted
Hi there, we are looking for an experienced lead guitarist to complete our lineup for our band. We are aged between 24 and 32 and consist of rhythm guitarist/singer, drummer and bassist. The lead guitarist has recently left the band as he has gone travelling. We have 6 songs which we have worked on since April last year and have gigged to a promising reception. We have a very rough recording of one of the earlier practices of these songs on www.myspace.com/permare . We need someone who can come in and lift the songs and have a feel for what a song needs to give it that boot up the arse when it needs it or subtle less is more guitar work when appropriate! So the ability to perform a variety of styles is advantageous. Ideally we would like someone to come in and hit the ground running with regards to learning the parts for the 6 songs we have and even enhancing them where you see fit. UNSIGNED BANDS WANTED for AYRPLAY - Burns Showcase for New Bands Competition 2010.

This is it. Your chance to enter Scotland's greatest battle of the band contest; giving your band the chance to break into the local music scene and ultimately onto the world's music stage.

More than 40 bands will be selected to take part in AYRPLAY. From each weekly performance 2 bands will be chosen on a 'text to win' and Judges vote basis - until just 6 bands battle it out to win in the Final at the burns an' a' that! Festival Club in Ayr Town Hall on Thursday May 27th to more than 500 music fans.

The 12 week competition will be held at The Eagle Tavern, Prestwick kicking off on Tuesday 16th February.Bands will be selected to take part in the competition by submitting mp3 tracks (myspace URLs) or similar.

BASS PLAYER NEEDED FOR NEW GLASGOW HEAVY ROCK BAND

We already have a rhythm guitar, lead guitar, drummer and a singer we are now looking for an experienced bass player.

We have rough demos written already http://www.myspace.com/blooddrum and recorded on pro-tools for you to listen to and get the vibe of our song writing. The demos are rough and we want each member to have a say in the structure of the songs and add their own element into the mix if it works for the songs. We also have a few cover songs that we are doing too.

Blood Drum - the sound has yet to be found but with these demos you can hear where we are right now. We are continually working on new material. The demos also are lacking guitar solos in places. We are looking for musicians who will be committed to creating music through team work and putting in the hours. The rehearsal time we normally do is at the weekend 3-6 normally but we will be adding other days or evenings in once we get the ball rolling a bit more.

Age is not really an issue so anyone from about 24 up to 35 probably fits. We are also open to musicians from around Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling if they are willing to travel to gig or rehearse.

Outstanding rock vocalist required for a forming originals and covers band. (Male or female)
We are: experienced (gigging and recording) rock musicians mid to late 20s in Edinburgh. Play in other bands but starting a new project to allow us to write new stuff and play a range of classic/modern rock covers.

What we need: An exceptional rock vocalist, powerful with a good range, good stage presence, easy to get on with- No egos please- worked with too many. We welcome singers from other bands as long as you can find time to rehearse and do have some spare dates to gig.

You can be as involved in writing new material as you want to be - and if writing isn't your thing and you just want to sing, that's fine too.

We won't be gigging straight away until we have written a few tracks and rehearsed a few agreed covers up to a good standard.

Influences don't really matter as we won't know what we sound like until we've gotten together to write stuff and we are pretty open to new ideas- If you are a fan of most classic rock and metal with big vocals / riff driven rock then we are probably on the same page.

The singer is the main focus of a band - we need someone who is excellent - you don't have to have experience at this but you do have to have a phenomenal voice.

Please no wannabes, timewasters or serial fantasists - sounds harsh but we've seen them all!

Female Blues Singer looking for Blues Band
I have been gigging for the past few years in Edinburgh and Glasgow area, mostly singing Jazz, but more recently Blues. Musicians Union member. I would like the opportunity to sing with an established (preferably) Blues/Rock Band. I have my own Transport and PA. Influences are varied - Etta James, Chris Farlowe, Zombies, Bad Co, Maggie Bell, Elkie Brooks etc......Currently singing - Bring it on Home To Me, Stormy Monday, Hoochie Coochie Man (Gal) etc., but also like to sing a ballad or two.....
