Sheffield Big Band touring Edinburgh before christmas
We are essentially an 18 - piece bigband formed from doctors and medical students from the Sheffield and surrounding teaching hospitals who have been playing in bars and clubs all over the city for 3 years. We are currently planning a tour of edinburgh later this year and would like to know if you would be interested in hosting us?

I can send a sample of our work. We have played at functions ranging from formal balls and dinner/dance events, to club nights and in cocktail bars. We play a range of jazz styles, from 30's/40's swing to bebop, and have recently introduced some upbeat latin and funk numbers

Iona Marshall - singer songwriter - melodic folk infused with ambient electronica
Hi

I am the manager for singer songwriter Iona Marshall, who is fast becoming recognised throughout the central belt for her stunning Celtic tinged barefooted performances. Her live one woman gigs are a mix of melodic folk infused with ambient electronica where she plays guitar and keyboards with experimental synth parts.

As well as playing numerous festivals (Kelburn Country Castle; Haarfest; Home Game; Hidden Door; Iona Beach Party), Iona has been on tour in London and played in many major cities on the UK attaining airplay on Radio One.

Her electronic influence allowed Iona to give a vibrant, new edge to her sound, ever harnessed by a captivating use of lyrical imagery and delicate melodies.

We are a live electric guitar duo from Lanarkshire performing everything from Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Rolling Stones, Free and other 70's classics, through to Modern day stuff like The Killers, Kings of Leon and Primal Scream. Katriona has been to booked on the 15th August to sing at the festival, however she is arriving on the morning of the 14th, so is looking to take a

We are a live electric guitar duo from Lanarkshire performing everything from Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Rolling Stones, Free and other 70's classics, through to Modern day stuff like The Killers, Kings of Leon and Primal Scream. This is it. Your chance to enter Scotland's greatest battle of the band contest; giving your band the chance to break into the local music scene and ultimately onto the world's music stage.

More than 40 bands will be selected to take part in AYRPLAY. From each weekly performance 2 bands will be chosen on a 'text to win' and Judges vote basis - until just 6 bands battle it out to win in the Final at the burns an' a' that! Charity Battle of the Bands
4 Original bands required (volunteers!) for a battle of the bands event in April or May at the Renfrew Ferry. Sound engineer is provided for this ticketed event, which will run at a weekend (date to be confirmed once I have bands prepared to play).

The event is to raise funds for the Task Brasil trust ( www.taskbrasil.org.uk ), a charity which helps street children in Rio and the surrounding area.

The Music Cafe
The latest regular addition to the Palace programme is The Music Café, this monthly live music set, based on the successful formula of the sell out Comedy Clubs, will take place in the intimate setting of the Palace Theatre's Café Bar. The run kicks off on March 6th with ever popular local boys The Symptoms, doors open at 7pm with tickets at only £7.50.

The series of semi-accoustic sets will feature well known as well as up and coming artists and will appeal to a variety of musical tastes. Artists lined up for the coming months include Dick Gaughan, Tommy Reilly, The Simple Touch, Craig Jeffrey Naomi Chapman, Maeve O'Boyle and Carol Laula. Tickets for the upcoming shows are available from between £5 and £9.50.

Experienced duo Over The Water are available now and wanting to set up some gigs throughout Edinburgh in respected venues.

Myself - vocals/ percussion - and Graham Smith - Acoustic guitar/ backing vocals - have been together for over 2 years now and in that time we have played in The Jekyl and Hyde, Berts Bar, the Morningside Glory, Mathers Bar, Leith Folk Club and have been asked to do a slot on Leith FM. We mostly do covers of well loved and well known songs, but we try and offer an alternative setlist to those commonly on offer. We can provide up to three hours and full PA/ Equipment etc. We can also offer a data projector as part of the set to add to the creativity and visual of the set.
