Exhibition:  Music and Muses
Venue :   Art Rocha Hostel, Grassmarket, Edinburgh

A retrospective look back at the live music photography of Steve Black shot in Edinburgh from 2006-2010. Kanye West, Zutons, Frattelis and many more will all be displayed in the new Art Roch Hostel in the heart of Edinburgh's Grass market. Please come to the reception to be guided to the exhibition Room.

The Exhibition is dedicated to the liquid rooms where I photographed a wealth of bands, the venue has been a milestone in the local and national music scene for over 10 years, the fire that wrecked it, left a huge hole in the local music scene. With the reopening early this summer the liquid-rooms will hope to uphold their tradition for excellence in attracting established and up and coming artists.

Hidden Cameras hit Glasgow
The Hidden Cameras hit Glasgow on Saturday 20th March, Stereo, Glasgow and what a night it will be. Ably supported by the The Just Joans and guests - you really shouldn't be anywhere else!

The Hidden Cameras will take you on a fanstastic musical journey from Ecce Homo to Origin:Orphan with all the style, mayhem and audience participation you have come to expect from their live performances. Bring your dancing shoes!!!!!

AYRPLAY - Burns Showcase for New Bands Competition 2010.
The first round of Scotland's biggest Battle of the Bands 'Ayrplay' took place at the Eagle Tavern, with No Fxd Abode, from Glasgow, winning through to the next round.  Aryplay is the country's greatest battle of the bands competition and every year has already seen bands go on to support icons of music like  Status Quo and perform at amazing venues like 02 in London.

John Potts, Ayrplay Chief Judge said, "No Fxd Abode are a talented group of young lads from Glasgow who came together as a band the beginning of January 2009 and seriously impressed the Judges with their outstanding musical talent and range of original material.  This is what this competition is all about and we're excited about the prospect of the next few weeks and the competition hotting up for the final."

New music venue

I am starting a new music venue in the south side of Glasgow called the 106 Club upstairs at McNeill's Bar in Torrisdale Street (right at Queens Park train station).

Birmingham based Band Quill are looking forward to appearing for the first time at the eastgate theatre peebles on march 6 th. They will be bringing with them a group of loyal fans from the midlands to stay at the tontine hotel for the weekend.

Charity Battle of the Bands
4 Original bands required (volunteers!) for a battle of the bands event in April or May at the Renfrew Ferry. Sound engineer is provided for this ticketed event, which will run at a weekend (date to be confirmed once I have bands prepared to play).

The event is to raise funds for the Task Brasil trust ( www.taskbrasil.org.uk ), a charity which helps street children in Rio and the surrounding area.

The Music Cafe
The latest regular addition to the Palace programme is The Music Café, this monthly live music set, based on the successful formula of the sell out Comedy Clubs, will take place in the intimate setting of the Palace Theatre's Café Bar. The run kicks off on March 6th with ever popular local boys The Symptoms, doors open at 7pm with tickets at only £7.50.

The series of semi-accoustic sets will feature well known as well as up and coming artists and will appeal to a variety of musical tastes. Artists lined up for the coming months include Dick Gaughan, Tommy Reilly, The Simple Touch, Craig Jeffrey Naomi Chapman, Maeve O'Boyle and Carol Laula. Tickets for the upcoming shows are available from between £5 and £9.50.

unfortunately I fell for the first mail , it was full of dodgy/elaborate grammar but thought maybe he was a middle aged french-canadian trying to write English. I didn't fall for the second email though. Unfortunately I told him when I was on holiday in Jan / when I was back to continue lessons. I also gave my mobile number...but they are probably in Russia or Ghana and won't rob my flat while I am away...fingers crossed...someone will be here anyway =)
